Your Workplace

The reception En väg in will become the First Line Youth Värmland's centralized entry and assessment reception.

This is where children and young people, between 6 and 20 years old, who show early signs of mental health issues can turn for an initial assessment with advice and support as an initial intervention, before any further actions are taken at the local reception where they are registered. Contact can also be made through guardians of the target group. With high accessibility and competence, we create security for children and young people and their families.

The reception En väg in means an expansion of the current operations. A strengthened First Line Youth is part of Region Värmland's prioritized investments and constitutes a central part of the long-term work to strengthen the mental health of children and young people with a more accessible, equitable, and cohesive care for Värmland's children and youth.

Our mission is to provide easily accessible support early in mild mental health issues, before the difficulties grow larger. Through advice, guidance, and early interventions, we meet young people based on their needs and ensure that the right support is in place at the right time.

The reception team at En väg in will consist of psychologists, social workers, medical administrators, and a unit manager. We work in a cross-professional team where different competencies complement each other and are used based on the young person's needs, with a holistic perspective and collaboration at the core.

Together, we are building a new structure focused on accessibility, high competence, and collaboration. The patient contacts made at En väg in primarily occur digitally via phone and video link, in close collaboration with the county's local receptions and other actors such as schools, social services, and other care levels within the region.

As an employee at En väg in, you will have the opportunity to be involved from the start and influence and develop a new way of working, flows, and routines together with the rest of the team.

Your Mission

As a psychologist, you are the first contact for children, young people, and their guardians. You make medical assessments, provide advice and support, offer psychoeducation, and treatment individually or in groups. Contacts primarily take place remotely, via phone or link. You identify the need for further interventions and collaborate with other care providers for the right level of care. Parenting support is an important part of the work, as are consultative efforts towards partners. You are part of the referral assessment team and contribute to the development of the reception's processes. Supervision is offered as support in the independent work.

The employment applies to the First Line Youth's reception team, En väg in for all of Värmland. Part of the competence we are looking for in the team is good insight into and collaboration with the operations at the county's local receptions. The placement will initially be at one of the First Line's current receptions for about three months, to provide a good understanding of the entire operation, before being stationed at the En väg in reception in Karlstad in early autumn 2026.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for a licensed psychologist with experience working with children, young people, and parenting. You have the ability to assess needs, plan and initiate support and treatment, and are confident in your professional role. You are communicative, structured, and flexible, with good collaborative skills and a desire to contribute to a positive work environment. Experience in development work is an advantage but not a requirement.

We Offer You:

  • A meaningful mission where you get to build new from the ground up.
  • The opportunity to influence working methods and routines.
  • A team characterized by collaboration and respect for each other's competencies.
  • Individual introduction and support in the role.
